Time to Bench Alvin Kamara?

New Orleans Saints RB, Alvin Kamara, has been a force to recon with ever since he came into the NFL. But after a rocky start to the season, Kamara has been struggling to say the least. In 9 games this 2025 season, Kamara has 106 carries for 377 yds, 1 rushing TD, 28 receptions for 150 receiving yds and 0 receiving TDs.

This translates to 11.7 carries, 41 rush yds, 3 receptions and 16 receiving yds per game this season.

The numbers don't look great. He's currently rushing at a career low average of 3.6 yds per carry and at his current rate he's on pace for only two touchdowns this season.

So for fantasy managers, what do you do? Kamara was likely a third or fourth round pick for you this season, likely being drafted as your RB2. Should you Bench him moving forward?

Yes. I think you should bench him.

It feels like the team doesn't value him like they used to. He's not playing at the star level he's thought of to be, and it just feels like there are likley better RB options for you especially if you were able to make waiver moves and grab Dowdle, Vidal, or White.

With that being said, I think there is hope for Kamara. Based on his numbers, when they have given him 15 plus carries, he's delivered good stats for the Saints. In games 2, 3 and 4 he was given carries of 21, 18 and 15. He produced 99 yds vs the 49ers, 42 yds vs the Seahawks, and 70 yds vs the Bills. After week 4 though they have given him less and less work where in the last 2 games they gave him only 6 carries in each game.

What's crazy is he's probably the Saints best player and yet they still decide to not give him opportunities especially in the passing game. He's currently averaging 5.4 yds per reception and has caught 28 of 34 targets his way which is a 82.4% catch % and the second highest by a RB with over 28 receptions.

With WR Rasheed Shaheed traded to the Seahawks as well as an upcoming bye week in week 11, I think there's an opportunity for the Saints to change their approach with Kamara and start feeding him more opportunities which will directly change the outlook not only for the saints, but also for fantasy owners.

Closing thoughts... if the Saints give Alvin Kamara more opportunities, I believe both the Saints and fantasy owners will benefit. I don't think he's droppable in fantasy, but i think at this point he's benchable if you have better options.
