The biggest news since the beginning of the 2021 NFL Draft, via NFL and team sources, was that the 2020 NFL MVP and the Packers QB, Aaron Rodgers, wants out of the Green Bay Packers Organization.
Per Adam Schefter's article "Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers is so disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers that he has told some within the organization that he does not want to return to the team"(ESPN).
So, what teams would I like to see Aaron Rodgers on that would keep his value in fantasy football high, but also elevate the players around him in fantasy?
Here are the 3 teams I'd like to see Aaron Rodgers play for:
The Denver Broncos
The Minnesota Vikings
The Atlanta Falcons
The Denver Broncos
I like this spot for Rodgers for a few reasons:
Denver has the offensive playmakers for Rogers to work with (WR's: Courtland Sutton, Jerry Juedy, and Tim Patrick; TE: Noah Fant; RB's: Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams (R))
Broncos have a QB controversy which could be easily solved with Rodgers
Their QB room is rather weak with Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater currently competing for the starting role
3. Mahomes vs Rodger twice a year
The Minnesota Vikings
Here's why I'd like to see Rodgers here:
The fantasy value of WR Justin Jefferson, WR Adam Thielen, and RB Dalvin Cook in Fantasy would increase
It would be an easy path to the playoffs for Rodgers (stays in division)
Brett Farve 2.0 (Farve also went to the Vikings after he played for the Packers)
The Atlanta Falcons
This one is a bit of a stretch but just imagine...
The Falcons trade (Hypothetical):
Falcons receive Aaron Rodgers and a 2022 3rd
Packers receive Matt Ryan and a 2022 2nd and 2023 3rd
Falcons 2021 roster becomes:
QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB1: Mike Davis
WR1: Calvin Ridley
WR2: Julio Jones
WR3: Russell Gage
WR4: Kyle Pitts (I think he will change from TE to WR)
TE1: Hayden Hurst
Packers 2021 roster becomes:
QB: Matt Ryan
RB1: Aaron Jones
WR1: Devante Adams
WR2: Marques Valdez-Scantling
WR3: Allen Lazard
WR4: Amari Rogers
TE1: Robert Tonyan
*I don't know about you, but I kinda like the look of these teams.
2. He'd easily have the most stacked team of weapons to work with in the NFL (WRs:Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Kyle Pitts ( I think he'll move from TE to WR), Russell Gage, and Cordarelle Patterson, TE: Hayden Hurst, and RB: Mike Davis)
3. Brady vs Rogers twice a year
Bonus team:
The last team I would like to see Aaron Rodgers on is the San Francisco 49ers.
This is because:
The 49ers have excellent weapons (WRs: Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuels; RBs: Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, Trey Sermon, Wayne Gallman; TE: George Kittle)
49ers would have great chance to go far in playoffs
QB Question would be solved as they can get rid of Garoppolo's high paying contract
Wilson vs Rodgers twice a year; Murray vs Rodgers twice a year; Stafford vs Rodgers twice a year
Better possibility Rodgers would be able to host Jeopardy full-time
The real reason I didn't put the 49ers in this top 3 list was because the Packers already declined a pretty great trade offer for Rodgers (the 2021 3rd overall draft pick and other draft picks to the Packers).
Also, according to Pro Football Talk, "The teams Rodgers would like to be traded to include not just the 49ers, but also the Raiders and Broncos. Rodgers would love to move closer to the West Coast, where he grew up, where his fiancée Shailene Woodley lives and where he would have more television opportunities, including the possibility of hosting Jeopardy" (ProFootballTalk.nbcsports.com).
Overall, any team would benefit and improve with Rodgers on it.
The true reason I want to see Rodgers on these teams is for fantasy football purposes.
All 3 of the teams listed (technically 4 counting the bonus team) have young receiving talent on them that would immediately benefit from an MVP QB like Aaron Rodgers on the team and sky-rocket every receivers value in fantasy.
