Starting off the 2018 NFL season, the New York Jets have played phenomenal defense by already obtaining 4 sacks, 5 INTs, and 2 TDs(1 pick 6 and 1 return TD) combined in their first two games of the season. In fantasy football right now, they are the number 1 Fantasy D/ST! Don't believe me check out these pics:
I'm surprised myself. I know what you are thinking? Wait that can't be right the Vikings, Bears, Jaguars, and Rams are much better than the Jets. Yes, those teams are all much better defenses than the Jets. They are all oozing in talent and play for great Defensive coordinators.
But the stats say the Jets are the number 1 defense in Fantasy Football. They are averaging 17.5 Fantasy points per game.
Wow, you think they are gonna stay the number 1 defense throughout the season?
Uh no.
People, they have only played two games this season. Lets be real. I know nobody is making any fuss over it, but still at the end of the day the jets will not be the #1 defense in Fantasy Football especially since all the D/ST's I listed earlier (Vikings, Bears, Jaguars, and Rams) are all much better defenses in real life and in Fantasy Football. I'm sorry to disapoint Jets fans in that aspect, but its true.
However, that wasn't what this article was about. The real question was whether the Jets Defense was for real this year.
So, is it?...
My answer is Yes!
The Jets are stacked with young talent and this year they will be a top 10 D/ST to own in Fantasy Football! Guys like Jamaal Adams( second year rising-star safety) and Leonard Williams(star defensive end) are taking this team to the next level. Free agent signings such as Trumaine Johnson( who was ranked the #15 cornerback in 2017) and Avery Williams (an up and coming linebacker) are also going to be very helpful in leading this franchise in the right direction.
Although this Jets defense is looking good, they still have some room to improve. Give this team another year or two to draft and add some other quality free agent signings to the team and they might become the best defense in the league! More than likely this will happen in 3 years, but it could happen in less.
