Steelers Wideout Juju Smith-Schuster had a fantastic game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football. He grabbed 7 passes out of 10 targets for 193 yards and a touchdown. Spectacular numbers! Enough to the point to become Pittsburghs #2 Receiver? Definitely, he has been very consistent too. But the real question is is it enough to give him a weekly start on your fantasy team? Not quite. I don't think he will be consistent enough to be a week-to-week starter for your fantasy team. At best on some weeks he'll be a decent flex. (At less is not TY Hilton)
This was his first game over 100 yards and the way he did it was phenomenal. He had a 97 yard touchdown when the steelers were on their own 3 yard line. He did everything great on that drive. He would have probably gone over 100 yards in the game without the 97 yard play too thats how good of a game he had. But in truth, he probably won't be this good in every game or ever. He has been averaging about 50 yards a game which is still really good. Before this breakout game though he was averaging 33 yards a game. So he got a big push from this last game in terms of stats. I know this might be hard for owners to hear but I don't think he'll be getting any more games over 100 yards this year, probably not even over 75. He might have one or two. But now defenses will know he is there and they'll be ready for him. Yes the Steelers still have AB and he is always a beast and will take up double coverage most of the time, but I think after this game defense are definitely going to put more focus on Juju and he is going to have to be ready for it. I'm not saying that in the future he won't have any more games over 100 yards but I just don't see it happening this year. However he does have three more games I would consider starting him. (Colts, Patriots, Browns)
He is still a rookie and has a lot to learn. Luckily for him he has the best WR in the game right now to show him how to be successful in this league. He won't be the star on a weekly basis with AB in the picture, but once AB is done in five or more years down the road (if he ever will be done, I don't want you to be) Juju will definitely get his time to shine in the future. He is young, has great potential, and I look forward to seeing what else he can bring to the steelers offense.
and he has shown it this past Sunday.
