Another fantasy football season has gone by. Big victories and tough losses were made this season too close to forget. NFL Playoffs have now arrived and their isn't much fantasy football out their unless you're using some playoff fantasy game. It just isn't the same though. So what can you do to move forward for next season? How about prepare yourself.
Some things to keep in mind for next season include looking at who did well in your league and who they had on their team. Write down the players who did well for them and try and target them for next season. See if they were taken in the draft or off the waiver wire. If they were taken in the draft, what round were they taken in. Was the player forced to do well because no one else could fully contribute (Zach Ertz). Or were they already recognized stars (Le'Veon Bell, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown). Were they starting for injured players (Spencer Ware, Ty Montgomery, Dak Prescott, DeAngelo Williams, Martellus Bennet, etc.) Were they up and coming players ( Derek Carr, David Johnson, Devante Adams, Mike Evans, Melvin Gordon). Were they outstanding rookies (Ezekiel Elliot, Michael Thomas, Jordan Howard, Hunter Henry) or comeback players (Jordy Nelson, Demarco Murray, Travis Kelce, Matt Ryan). These are all things to look at when considering player from other teams that you'd want on your team next year.
Another good thing to do before the season starts is to keep track of who gets picked in the NFL Draft, big transactions teams make in the off season like free agents (including firing and hiring of head coaches), and what position players teams are in need of. All of these adjustments, pickups, and drops these teams make this offseason will affect the teams game plan for the year and tells us what these teams expect to exceed in as a franchise (running, passing, defense, and/or special teams). After knowing what kind of team these programs will be and who is on these teams starting lineups we can predict what players will play big role next season which will translate into who will have the best opportunity to succeed in the up coming fantasy football season.
